This 2019-2020 snowboard and ski season is quickly approaching and the Big White ski passes are still for sale on campus and around town for a reasonable $519, or for sale on the Big White website.

There has been a lot of work done at Biggie this summer with nice additions not only to infrastructure, but also some serious work done to the runs.

A new run has been made called The General. The General is located on the old lift line. It is a black diamond run that is steep and narrow with glades on each side of it. So, if you thought you have hit it all, there’s something new even for the seasoned vet.

Furthermore, this summer’s crews were working hard clearing the mountain of unwanted rocks and debris near the new Powder Chair, the bottom of the Ridge, and runs around the Black Forest. More good news is Gem Lake has undergone a serious $500,000 investment that will allow for riders to go through west ridge with less snow base. What this means is that Gem Lake will likely open earlier in the season and bless us with its glorious runs.

For any students that have little to no experience skiing or snowboarding, Biggie has installed a new magic carpet that is a friendly lift for beginners to use and hone their skills on before embracing the mountain. Also, worth noting is the eight new Gondolas that connect Happy Valley to the main village that will increase the capacity by 50%.

So, if you are looking to check out Big White this winter, there is lots to look forward to—and if skiing and boarding isn’t your thing, the tubing hill can also be a blast.

Fingers crossed the snow starts falling and winter sports shall begin.
