UBCO’s second Homecoming launches on September 28, 2019

New events and traditions are established every year at UBCO as the student population continues to grow and school spirit surges. In the fall of 2018, students, alumni and the surrounding community came together for UBC Okanagan’s first ever Homecoming celebration hosted by UBC Okanagan Alumni. This fall, Homecoming returns to continue its legacy as a celebration of success, school spirit and all things UBCO.

Homecoming 2019 launches on Friday, September 27 with a pancake breakfast in the morning, followed by a fun-filled day on September 28 that showcases UBCO’s campus, sports teams, faculties and much more.

The Heat Soccer teams kick off the Saturday afternoon with back-to-back games on Nonis Field where family and friends are encouraged to cheer on the Heat teams while enjoying refreshments and showing off UBCO’s school colours.

Whether it’s at the campus scavenger hunt, comedy special or StreetFest, the Saturday evening brings lots of prizes to be won and laughs to be shared. Teams of four can be registered for the scavenger hunt for a chance to win prizes such as UBC apparel, Monster Bluetooth headphones or a Google Home mini. More prizes can be found at the StreetFest carnival along with entertainment by local artists as well as local food trucks and a beer garden.

The comedy special is new to Homecoming this year and features Steve Patterson, a long-time comedian and TV star. A variety of other exciting Homecoming 2019 events are located both on and off campus as well as the third annual Heat Alumni golf tournament, located at Okanagan Golf Club.

The burgeoning UBCO Homecoming tradition had a strong start in 2018 with over 1,200 guests attending the event. In 2019 and the years to come, Homecoming is sure to grow and solidify its reputation as a premier celebration of UBCO school spirit.
